Appointments

The Doctors, Nurses and Midwife operate an appointment system. To make an appointment, either contact the receptionist by telephone or visit the surgery. You may be asked some questions to judge the urgency of your request. All information given to staff will be treated as confidential.

For routine appointment, please plan ahead and book well in advance to get the time you prefer. If you are more than 15 minutes late, you will either be asked to wait until the end of the surgery to be seen, or to book another appointment. If you no longer require an appointment, please let us know so that someone else can be seen in your place.

Patients aged 16-74 are encouraged to seek a health check every 3 years and patients over 75 an annual health check.

Out of hours emergencies

The surgery provides 24-hour emergency cover for patients registered within the practice area. The 'Out-of-Hours' services are commissioned by our Primary Care Trust and can be contacted by telephoning 01444 244294 . Your call will be automatically transferred during the following times: Lunchtime 13:00-15:00 if you need a doctor for an emergency Evening and weekends From 18:00 to 8:30 weekdays and from 18:00 Friday evening to 8:30 Monday morning. This doctor cover is provided by Harmoni.

Telephone advice

Most advice is best given at a consultation but if necessary, the doctor or nurse will be happy to speak to you on the phone. However, if they are seeing a patient when you call you will be asked to ring back at the end of the surgery. Please remember that the doctors' and nurses' time is valuable and we ask that you only phone when necessary.

Home visits

These are for people who are too ill or too disabled to travel to the surgery. To request a home visit, please ring the surgery as early as possible in the morning so that the doctor can plan his rounds. Please give the receptionist your address and contact telephone number. Someone will return your call, or ask the district nurse to visit.

Illness certificates

For the first seven days of illness and inability to work you should complete a self certificate. After seven days a doctor's medical certificate may be required.

Immunisations

It is very important for children and babies to be immunised to protect them from dangerous diseases. Appointments can be arranged through the receptionist. We also offer adult immunisations for Tetanus, Polio, influenza, pneumonia and others required for travel, but not for occupational health.

Baby immunisation clinics are held on Tuesdays 9.30am -11.30am

District Nurses

The District Nursing Service works closely with patients who require skilled nursing care within the home setting. We provide support, advice and nursing interventions to patients with a wide range of illnesses. Patients may be referred to the service via their GP, other health professionals, school services or themselves. District Nurses can be contacted by telephoning the surgery and leaving a message with the receptionist.

Results
